Interested students from Porsgrunn
Great fun! Cool! That was the response from the 18 students who participated in the Geopark fieldtrip on Friday, the 7th of November.
The arrangement was a part of the community of Porsgrunn’s local opening of the Geopark, and the students from the Porsgrunn schools had participated in a Geopark contest beforehand. The winners came from the schools of Borge, Grønli, Hovet, Myrene and Kjølnes Jr. High School.
With their field notebooks and pencils in hand, the students got to be geologists for the day, and judging by their responses it probably won’t be the last time! They wandered among the cobblestones and Ice Age history on Mølen, then the tour continued to Rognstranda where they got to see the oldest geology, hear the history of the tropical sea and see the fossils and limestone deposits from that time. Thanks to everyone for an enjoyable and eventful day!
