Kragerø Mayor Kåre Preben Heggeland has been on a visit to a Chinese Geopark. Here we see him by the monument, "Lion Mouth Cliff".

Many have become better acquainted with the Geopark this autumn, and the feedback from the public has been very positive. The open excursions have been a success with trips into both well-known and lesser-known attractions in the Geopark. Competent guides have led the tours from geological, natural historical and cultural perspectives, and have contributed to exposing existing and also relatively less familiar attractions in our local environment.

Gea Norvegica Geopark got a green card after its recent evaluation, and it continues to be Scandinavia’s only Geopark supported by UNESCO.

Several of Gea Norvegica’s localities are affected by the oil spill from "Full City". The oil can be seen along the whole stretch of coast from Portør in the south, nearly all the way to Stavern in the north. In Jomfruland, Steinvika, Mølen and Nevlunghavn, oil is everywhere.

The Jomfruland series is a brochure series consisting of individual theme-brochures for the island. There are four brochures: Geology and Landscape, Nature throughout the year, Bird life, and Culture Shapes the Landscape.

There were many who found their way to Norcem’s mines. Mona Holte gave a fine presentation about what the world looked like when the limestones there were formed.

About 60 students from the College of Telemark spent the fourth day of a five-day fieldtrip in the Geopark

About 30 students from Drammen High School chose the Geopark for their geology excursion.

In association with the celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the Telemark Museum, there is a special Geopark exhibit in the music pavilion. The exhibit will be officially opened by the chairman of the county council, Gunn Marit Helgesen.

The community of Kragerø hosted the spring Meeting of the Representatives of Gea Norvegica Geopark. Meeting participants were politicians from the eight owner municipalities, together with two politicians from the county council.
